What this means to mare owners is: when bred to a chestnut mare, Cowboy will always produce a palomino foal. When bred to a bay mare ( if the mare throws her bay gene ) he will produce a buckskin foal. When bred to a black mare ( if she throws her black gene ) he will still produce a buckskin - not a smokey black!!
